PYDIBHIMAVARAM INDUSTRIAL WATER PROJECT

Water security for a growing industrial coast.

FOD Solutions India is developing a seawater desalination and distribution system for pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturers in northern Andhra Pradesh.

01

WHY THIS PROJECT EXISTS

Industry needs more dependable water than the area can currently supply.

Pydibhimavaram is an established pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing area on the northern coast of Andhra Pradesh. Industrial demand has outgrown dependable freshwater supply, and groundwater is used to bridge part of the gap.

The constraint is practical: manufacturers need continuous process and utility water to protect production and plan expansion. A dedicated source from the Bay of Bengal can supply the cluster without placing additional pressure on groundwater.

The opportunityBuild one shared coast-to-customer utility for several manufacturers, then expand it as additional demand is contracted.

DEMAND SIGNALAPIIC tendered a desalination system for the same industrial cluster in 2022.

In September 2022, Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation issued a competitive RFQ for a 35 MLD desalination plant for the same Pydibhimavaram industrial cluster. The project was planned to expand to 50 MLD and included the intake, treatment plant and distribution network.

THE WATER SYSTEM

Seawater becomes contracted industrial supply.

Reverse osmosis uses pressure and membranes to separate water from dissolved salts. The product stream is conditioned for customers. The concentrate stream follows a separately engineered return route.

Manufacturers reported in commercial discussions

FOD reports three signed customer letters of intent covering approximately 3 MLD, with commercial discussions involving six manufacturers. The next step is to convert that interest into binding water purchase agreements for the first module.

MODULAR CAPACITY10 MLD+10 MLD+10 MLD

FOD is designed as more than a single plant. The treatment system is organised in containerised modules that can be fabricated, tested and shipped to site.

Shared marine works, storage and trunk infrastructure create the base. Repeatable treatment modules add capacity as new customers sign long-term water agreements.

  1. 01
    Standardise

Repeatable treatment blocks are engineered around a common platform.

  2. 02
    Fabricate

Modules are assembled and tested in a controlled environment before shipment.

  3. 03
    Install

Containerised units arrive ready for rapid connection to shared site infrastructure.

  4. 04
    Expand

New capacity is added when customer demand is contracted.

CAPACITY STRATEGY

Infrastructure grows with contracted demand.

The first module establishes the shared system. Later modules add treatment capacity and customer connections.

THE COMMERCIAL ENGINE

Essential infrastructure with recurring water revenue.

01 / DEVELOPERFOD Solutions India

Develops the customer, technical and financing programme and prepares the project SPV for delivery.

02 / SERVICEDelivered water

Produces water to the contracted specification and meters delivery at each customer connection.

03 / REVENUEIndustrial customers

Purchase metered water under long-term agreements with predictable payment terms.

The model is built on monthly water payments, not a one-time equipment sale. Long contracts, rising plant utilisation and later capacity additions can compound the value of the original intake, treatment and pipeline investment.
